Gluten-free Life Hack #10

I feel like it’s been ages since I posted a hack so here it goes!

Gluten-free Life Hack #10

It’s easy to make your own gluten-free food and hide away from the world afraid of cross-contact. It’s great to be cautious, but don’t be afraid to live and try new things.

Sometimes the best things are hiding in your own backyard!

Yesterday we finally went to check out this great Gluten-free bakery in town. I say finally because they opened their store front last fall! It was so wonderful! We loved everything we tried and the atmosphere was so great we will definitely be going back again.

For me it is so hard to try new restaurants I am always afraid of the cross-contact with gluten and my plate. It part of trying is trusting and hoping and if I can’t do that life can be pretty boring and lonely. I encourage you to venture out and find that diamond in the rough in your area. If you need some inspiration here is the video I did of our experience!

Carrot Cake ( even gluten-free carrot cake)..should have carrot in it!

Hi again!  I’ve loved getting to connect in person with many of you at the different shows, fairs and conventions we’ve been to over the last few months and online through comments, and email.  I was so thankful to get a particular email that came to us through our publisher, Harvest House. This email helped us realize that after all the edits and checks of the many drafts of our cookbook a last minute formatting change resulted in our Carrot Cake missing some vital ingredients and measurements..including the carrot!!! That just cannot stand! So I’m asking for help, I’m going to share the entirety of the recipe here, please share it. Share it widely!  I’m hoping we can find as many people that bought the cookbook as possible and get this correct version to them and give anyone else who may want to try out this great Gluten-Free recipe a chance to as well!

Enjoy! Happy Baking!

Gluten-free Food and Allergy Fest

It’s been over a year in the planning and it seems hardly possible that we are here now!

Last year I was researching information for one of my blog posts and completely accidentally ran across information for this expo for gluten-free food and products. I figured it had already happened and was about to click away when I realized it was 2 weeks away and at a location we could get to fairly easily. Long story short we attended both days of the show and conducted my first interview and posted a couple videos from that weekend. While we were here I asked about the possibility of coming to the next show to share my cookbook, do signings and more interviews for my YouTube channel (Gluten-free Life Hacks). It’s been a process, but here we are!!! Tonight we began setting up the booth!

I shot a really quick video while they were trying to get us to leave for the night, but here it is!

Just so excited (and definitely nervous) to actually be here! If you happen to be in Portland attending the Gluten-free Food and Allergy Fest- stop by and say hi! We have giveaways happening and would just love to meet some of you in person!

Allergy friendly trick-or-treating!

A great find at Target today! I was so excited to find how big the Teal Pumpkin Project has grown since last year. The idea is that people who have allergy friendly treats to offer for Halloween will have a teal pumpkin on display so people with allergy issues know safe places to stop and trick-or-treat. Watch this short video on our YouTube channel.

Hi! And Starbucks fun!

Hi! I’m back! I’ve been busy working at my day job which I’m sure many of you can relate to. My mom and I have also been working hard with our publisher on putting the finishing touches on our Gluten Free cookbook! It is so exciting to see the end so near! Later I will share more details and some of the fun process, but for this post I really just wanted to say hi, and share a quick gluten-free life hack I’ve discovered!

So most of you may know this already, but this was a new experience for me today! Starbucks has a gluten-free breakfast sandwich! Bonus- it was DELICIOUS !

It comes in this bag- sealed shut, they reheat it for you in this bag to help it stay free of cross-contamination. It is available for order from their app- so you can check availability before you show up to get your coffee. My sweet friend that introduced me to this today was able to use the app to see one Starbucks was sold out and order from another nearby location.

I am so excited to be able to use this for everyday but also for travel to places I’m not as familiar with.

Enjoy this fun new Gluten-free life hack! I’ll be back soon!!!
